Part of the book:
Mom snoozes on the couch. And for a moment I can imagine what she would look like when she died, when her face relaxed and her lungs emptied. She was surrounded by objects, papers, and picture frames. There are people he has not seen in years. Among these things, his body seems lifeless and lonely, and I ask myself if the deeds done for this world make life flow. Is pressure an observer force that pumps blood flow? It is easy to solve a problem when no one is watching.
