Description

The Story of a Shipwrecked Sailor is the story of an interview with a Colombian navy sailor. A story that, in slang terms, illustrates well the unfaithfulness of the times and human society.

That in a day when artificial honors are given to someone by chance and wind and they turn him into a myth and take him to the throne, when the page of the times returns, how suddenly he is broken down from the heavens and razed to the ground. This story can be compared to the water fountain process. A story that tells the story of indulging in baseless flattery in a tangible way and then the people’s boredom and depression after fleeting pleasures and trying to get rid of the trap of hypocrisy and arrogance in an artificial life. Warns the audience.
About the book The Story of a Drowning
The story of this event was first published in 1955 in the newspaper El Spectator de Bogata. Born in 1928, Marquez was still a young reporter at the time, but the work he created to tell the story not only brings the reader closer to reality, but also in the midst of this harsh world of hundreds of subtle points. He puts the truth next to him. Love and hope, truth and lies, life and death, effort and fatigue, courage and fear, pride and consumption are all evident.

Gabriel Garcia Marquez, a Latin American writer and Nobel laureate in the novel, tells the story of a sailor who wanders alone at sea for ten days, literally struggling with life and death. It is a short and straightforward story, but the most prominent point that the reader reaches at the end of the story …

About the author:
Gabriel José Garcاa Mکزrquez, born March 6, 1927 in the village of Arkataca in the Santa Maramara region of Colombia – died April 17, 2014, was a Colombian novelist, writer, journalist, publisher and political activist. He was known among the people of Latin America as Gabo or Gabito (for worship) and lived in Mexico after a conflict with the President of Colombia and his persecution. Marquez, winner of the 1982 Nobel Prize in Literature, is best known for his 1967 novel One Hundred Years of Solitude.

This book tells the story of indulging in baseless flattery in a tangible way and reminds the audience of the people’s boredom after this period and their efforts to get rid of the trap of hypocrisy and arrogance in an artificial life.

This book is the story of a sailor who is drowned and drowned in the Caribbean Sea with his colleagues. But the main character of the story miraculously reaches the shore after ten days of enduring hunger and hardship in the dangerous sea. In terms of military service and media importance, he soon became a national hero and a popular myth, and the dictatorial regime of the time honored him and promoted him to the rank of officer.

After a period of time when every minute of his life is overshadowed by this issue, and every brand that he used his tools in those ten days, he pays him a large amount of money for advertising, which he only mentions in interviews, for example, chewing gum in those ten days. He chews during the day or wears some shoes. But it does not take long for the oven of this market to cool down and be repeated for everyone and no one will follow him.

At this time, he, who is accustomed to gaining prestige and materialism through various programs and generally propaganda through the behavior of the media and ordinary people, as well as the dictatorial government, seeks to continue this path, and because he does not see much desire, this time to the office. A newspaper came forward and made a revelation about the incident.
This move is a turning point in the story or a defeat for the readers’ beliefs. The revelation of the main character of the story is accompanied by the courage of the journalist and the editor-in-chief of the newspaper, and after a while, the closure of the newspaper office and the unemployment of the journalist and the deportation of this national hero. The hero, whose only art is to survive at sea, becomes an isolated exile who has been removed from service in the Navy.

The prose of this book and in fact its translated prose is very fluent and without linguistic obligations. A realistic story based on a fact but accompanied by a beautiful adaptation by the author.
In this book, the author starts the story in reverse, but despite defining the end of the story at the beginning, no one notices the story and its suspension remains until the end of the book. The state that the reader is constantly looking for how a national hero can be fired.

This book was written by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, a Colombian writer in 1970, and translated by Reza Qaisaria in 1980, and Niloufar Publications took over the third edition in 2004.
