Description

The great alone Book by Christine Hannah, one of the best-selling books of 2018 in the United States, tells the story of the life of a wounded soldier named Arendt Albright in 1970, who takes his family to Wild Alaska to start a new life.

Arendt’s daughter Lenny, the protagonist of The Great Alone, who is only thirteen years old, is in a tumultuous relationship with her parents and is forced to accept the new situation, but hopes that this new land will have a future. Bring the best for him and his family.
This shift is pleasant at first, but when winter comes and Arendt’s mental state worsens, his wife and child are in an uncontrollable situation. Lenny and his mother Cora, who love each other, become cooks and servants because of their bad circumstances. They are forced to argue not only against natural factors but also because of wrong decisions that they believe stemmed from Arendt’s recovery and return to pre-war character.

Lenny gradually grows up and at school falls in love with a boy named Matthew.

The rest of this book tells the story of Lenny. He tries to support their sick father and poor mother. But the jealousy of his father, Arendt, turns into hatred for Matthew’s father, and makes the situation more difficult for Lenny, to the point where the story becomes a mess.

Kristin Hannah, like the first character in her story, Lenny, immigrated to Alaska following her father’s decision. He still feels solidarity with that place. The whole story is full of Hannah’s descriptions of Alaska’s breathtaking scenery.
In fact, the wonder of the great lonely novel is Alaska itself. For all its untamedness, its stunning beauty and dangerous glory. All of this creates the perfect setting for a dramatic story that clearly depicts the atmosphere of the 1970s.

Christian Hannah is a famous American author born in 1960 in California. He has won numerous prestigious awards and authored books that have always sold well. He graduated from a law school in Washington, D.C., and worked full-time in Seattle before becoming a writer.

In part of the book Great Loneliness we read:

The inside of the church was larger than could be seen from the outside. Slab contraction joints should intersect at the openings for columns. There was no bench there. People filled the space while standing together. A man dressed in white and wearing a fur coat stood in front of him. His face was completely hidden between his mustache and beard.

Almost everyone Lenny had seen in Kanq was there. He saw Large Marge standing between Mrs. Rhodes and Natalie. The whole Harland family was there, clinging to each other. Even the crazy Pat was there with the strength he had in his arms.
But it was the first row that caught his attention. Mr. Walker was standing next to a beautiful girl with blonde hair who Lenny thought could be Alyska. And on that side stood Walker’s relatives, whom Lenny had never seen. Right to them to the right stood one man, Matthew. Genoa’s boyfriend, Calhoun Malus, was carrying a heavy weight by moving his legs. As if he did not know what to do. He was red around his eyes.

Lenny tried to get Matthew’s attention.

But the opening and closing of the church doors and the cold and snow inside prevented it. He was standing there with his shoulders bent and his cheeks drooping. Her face was covered in her hair, which seemed to have been sitting there for a week. Lenny followed his family into the empty row and stood behind the Mad Earl family.
Earl fashion immediately shook hands with Dad. Lenny stared at Matthew, wanting him to look at Lenny too. He did not know what to say. Maybe he didn’t want to say anything at all and just wanted to hold her hand.
