The book of symphonies of the dead is narrated in Ardabil in the decade 1310 to 1330 and is the subject of the story of traditional and rich families.

The father is a traditional, religious man who owns a large, well-known nut shop and expects his sons to follow in his footsteps. The family has four children: Yusuf, who happens to be completely paralyzed and living a vegetarian life; He is a family and has the same thoughts as his father and wants to continue his father’s path.

Events such as Orhan’s jealousy of Aydin, Yusef’s extra burden on the family, Aydin’s marriage and separation, and different and sometimes painful events determine each member of the family.

The Symphony of the Dead is the life story of a family living in Ardabil at the end of Reza Shah’s reign. The book consists of 4 chapters, each of which is narrated by a narrator. Jaber Orkhani’s father owns a nuts and dried fruit shop in Ardabil Bazaar. His children are Yusuf, Aydin and Aida, respectively, and Orhan, whose daughter Aida is twin with Aydin. Orhan, who helps his father run the shop more than anyone else, is his favorite and he loves Aydin’s mother more than his other children.

Aydin is very interested in studying and Orhan is more interested in business. The Orhani family’s home is located near the Lord Fan. With the outbreak of World War II, the Russian government launched airstrikes and parachuted into the northern parts of the country, including Azerbaijan. This causes chaos in the city. Chaos, insecurity and lack of food, especially bread, prevail in the city.
Jaber has a friend named Ayaz who is a constable. Jaber advises Ayaz in most matters of his life. Yusuf, who is a boy at the time, pays homage to the soldiers under the influence of the war atmosphere in the city at home, especially by watching the paratroopers disappear. One day, imitating the paratroopers, he takes his father’s big black umbrella and flies it from the roof of the house. But as a result of falling from the roof, Yusuf suffers from a kind of backwardness. His speech and hearing skills gradually disappear and he becomes something between a human and an animal that constantly swallows and gets dirty.

. Ayaz, who is a strong supporter of Reza Shah, cries for his resignation from the monarchy in favor of his son, and Jaber also cries. In the family, Orhan and Yousef gradually help their father run the shop, but Aydin is not interested in selling nuts.

The prose of the story is very fluent and the story is very regular. The story of the book is so fascinating that you do not like to put the book down and rest at all.

Part of the book Symphony of the Dead
“I do not know if his mother loved him as much as I did? Can anyone understand what it is like to love him and what brings him closer to eternity? Adam is full. The way he does not want to think about anything else. He will not tremble for another person and never doubt. At night, when he set foot in that big, cold house, the noise would be far away from the wall for years and he would be silent. It became a pine tree and stood in the middle of the yard, closed and remained closed.

Aydin’s restraint was coming out of his father’s mouth moment by moment. Rogue and untamed. He was imprisoned in the basement, where he was so confused that they did not come out until they approached him and insisted. He reads the book by heart and writes the spelling. They cut off his allowance for a while.
He was engaged in yoghurting in Sarcheshmeh Square. He also drank a pot of milk and got a quran one day. He buys paper and books for his money, and it costs his father more. They did not buy clothes for him, he spends his time with the same old people. There was nothing in the prison and he only thought that he hated selling seeds, he hated repeating his father’s life. He hated the many things that children love in such years of life.

Aydin was not a child. The devil wobbled in his veins and roots, whispered in his ears, made him struggle. And he had made him a man to be safe from others and to be helpless. It was not calm and settled. He searched for something all day and night, and like his other Aida, a strange orientalist came out of his head. “He was the last person to sleep at night and the first person to wake up in the morning.”

Posted on the cover:

“Mr. Dorostkar’s clock has been out of order for more than thirty years; at five-thirty in the afternoon of July 1325. The clock in the church was out of order many years ago and Orhan’s clock was taken away by a man, but time is still running out. And causes destruction.

The Symphony of the Dead, a highly acclaimed novel by Abbas Maroufi, tells the story of the misery of people who are constantly dying and going on in madness. They have written and will write a lot about this novel; And yet all the questions that arise from this text remain forever; A question that needs to be answered in private in each audience:

None of us had an idol in front of us, we took the soul of the artist we disguised as a crazy Suji to his slaughterhouse, and yet we searched for him and survived alone in his mind. Which one of us? “

Beautiful sentences from the book:
“People talk behind God.”

“Loneliness can only be felt in the crowd.”

“The first child always returns the rewards of others. “

“According to Ayaz, one cannot argue with two categories: literate and illiterate.”

“One does not understand the meaning of life until one reads the story”

Summary of the book Symphony of the Dead by Abbas Maroufi:
People only live one half of their lives, I was the property of the first half and he was the second half. The one who has lived the first half of his life is a brother who is trying to follow in his father’s footsteps; Authoritarian and totalitarian father. And the one who has lived the second half is the brotherhood, the poet and intellectual, the youth who symbolize the contemporary generation of Iranian intellectuals.

The intellectual brother rebels against the vulgarity of home and society, puts his heart into love and tries, if not in society, at least in the corner of isolation, to create a world free from depravity and malice. Another brother goes to work and becomes another father. The conflict between the brothers continues and eventually one is the victim of the other. But the fate of contemporary Abel and Cain is influenced by thousands of contemporary historical events;
Events that left neither Abel nor Cain in the past. Abbas Maroufi, a well-known Iranian journalist and writer, is 46 years old, has won many domestic and international awards, and has been forced to leave Iran for some time. Marufi, now a resident of Germany, continues to write and his mastery of modern storytelling methods and his knowledge of history and mythology have made him one of the most popular Iranian writers.
