Excerpts from my scary friend’s book
Mark was a successful engineer who was always proud of the way he worked and did them well. The only thing that bothered Mark and interfered with his life was his intense fear of birds. Whenever he saw a bird, he reacted strongly with fear and his whole body was affected by this fear.

It is true that he knew that his fear of birds did not make sense, but it was still very difficult for him to go to places where there were birds. He also avoided going to the backyard of his house until he built a high fence for the yard so that he could sit there without the birds approaching him.

He avoided going to the river, the sea, the park, as well as pet stores. Mark and his fiancé decided to go to Venice, Italy for their honeymoon.
While researching the trip, he discovered that one of Venice’s most famous landmarks is a field full of pigeons. Mark noticed that whenever he thought about this trip and seeing the birds, he felt anxious. It was then that he was motivated to overcome his fears.

When he went to the therapist for treatment, one of his first questions was: “Why am I so scared?” Like many people with phobias, he asked himself, “Why me?” It was very difficult for Mark to find the source of his fear.

“I am a successful person and I have confidence in many areas of my life,” he said. I know this fear is very meaningless, but I can not control my body’s reaction when I see birds.
