Description

Lily and Majnoon by Hakim Nezami Ganjavi is the name of a collection of poems by a famous Iranian poet. This collection is the third Masnavi from the collection of Masnavi known as Khamseh Nezami. Most scholars believe that the scattered themes of this story are derived from the poems and myths of folklore in Arabic. Who has made an Iranian military. Krachkovsky gives a true identity to the insane character and considers him one of the people of Saudi Arabia in the late first century AH. But Taha Hussein casts serious doubt on the reality of the insane character. Jan Ripka attributes the legend of Lily and the Madman to the ancient Babylonian civilization.

Although the name Lily and Majnoon also appears in Persian poetry and literature before Nezami Ganjavi, Nezami first arranged it in the form of a single poem in Persian in 4700 verses at the request of King Shervan. Nezami himself has been dissatisfied with the order and has completed the work in four months.

The weight of this Masnavi is new and after Nezami, many poets have written love stories in this weight. Dozens of poets in Iran, India, and Turkestan have also adapted poems to greet Lily and Majnoon, and other poets have added or altered more of the military story. Compared to the poem of Khosrow and Shirin by the same poet, this poem helps to understand the cultural differences between Arabs and Iranians. The characters of the story are conventional in the military narrative and do not accept much change from the events of the story. Lily and Majnoon has been translated and published in important Western languages.

This collection is the third Masnavi from the collection of Masnavi known as Khamseh Nezami. Most scholars believe that the scattered themes of this story are taken from the poems and myths of folklore in the Arabic language, which have been Persianized by Nezami. After him, 38 Persian-speaking poets, 13 Turkish poets, and 1 Urdu poet imitated Nezami.

The Masnavi consists of 4,500 verses, which was written in 584 under the name of Shervanshah Abolmozafar Akhstan. It is from Islam.
