Description

The Book of Immortality is a novel by Milan Kundera, first published in 1990. Death and immortality are the intertwined themes of Kundera’s first novel, after his best-selling book The Bar of Existence. Kundera, himself an influential figure in the circular narrative of the story of immortality, contrasts Goethe’s troubled and humorous relationship with his wife Christine and Goethe’s younger brother, Bettina, in a more modern triangle of three Parisian characters:

Paul, his wife Agnes and Agnes’s sister, Lara. After the death of her father, Agnes experiences her life in a different way and realizes that while she had a good life with her husband, she never felt the passion of love in it. Lara, who has been separated from her husband, has never experienced love beyond lust. Both Agnes and Lara are interested in the bridge, and it is obvious that the fight between them for the bridge will have only one winner.

Excerpts from the book Immortality (text pleasure)

Nothing requires more intellectual effort than justifying reason.

The feeling of love makes us all have the misleading illusion that we know our side.

They are not ashamed of being themselves and they do not have the slightest inferiority complex, and this is exactly the reason for their power.

Immortality is Milan Kundera’s latest work.

In one of the sections of the book, while talking to his friend Professor Avanarius, the author says in response to the question of what he is doing: he is writing a book

You are called an unbearable style.
“I think someone wrote it before,” says his friend.

I wrote it myself, but at the time I thought I was wrong about the title of the book

That’s a good title for the novel I’m writing now.

This work is full of thoughts and explorations about love, human nature and loneliness and alienation and the pains of social life. Oh, in a word, it is a phenomenon.

Wonderful in contemporary novel writing style. Milan Kundera born ???? Bruno Brono is from Czechoslovakia

And since ???? Has resided in France.

Kundera is no stranger to the Iranian reading community
And readers have been familiar with his name and works for years. The novel Immortality is the author’s latest work.

This work, like the book of the burden of existence, is full of thoughts and explorations about man and his loneliness, alienation and the pains of his collective life.

Book summary

This is nothing at all. You have to wait at least another twenty or thirty years to fully realize that man dies.

You can then extract all the results from this cognition.

This is not going to happen any time soon… You know! It’s very strange.

Being dead is the most fundamental human experience and man can never accept it and understand it.

And behave accordingly. Man does not know what it is like to be dead

And when he dies, he does not even know what it was like to be dead.

Immortality
“Life is only once and we can not distinguish right from wrong. Because we can only make decisions once in any situation. Life does not give us a chance again, three or four times. For this reason, we do not have the opportunity to compare decisions and their results with each other. In fact, there is no way to distinguish right from wrong, because no comparison is possible.
