Description

Introducing the book Doubtful by Sadegh Hedayat
The land of Iran has always been the cradle of various opinions, beliefs and religions. From referring to the pre-Islamic history of Iran, we see that in addition to the official and state religion of the country, there have always been sects and religions that are strong or weak in reverse. Has been. During the Sassanids, in addition to the official religion, Zoroastrianism, a number of other religions and sects such as Zarwani, Mehr, Judaism, Christianity, Manichaeism, Mazdaki, Sophistry, Buddhism, etc. were in conflict inside Iran after the conquest of Iran by the Arabs. As soon as the Iranians came to their senses, they reacted strongly to the religion of Islam and invaded the religion of their conquerors by various means, especially through the renewal of previous religions and denominations.

The translation of the confused situation of the time of the Caliphate, as well as many poets, writers and leaders of the beginning of Islam (Ibn Muqaffa, Babak Afshin Maziar, Barmakian, etc.) shows that this opposition was extremely strong. However, there are no reliable documents to study these views and compare them with pre-Islamic teachings. Because this part of history is very dark and the written documents that exist in this field have been deliberately destroyed.

After the conquest of Iran by the Arabs, as soon as the Iranians came to their senses, against the religion of Islam; They reacted strongly and attacked the religion of their conquerors by various means, especially through the renewal of previous religions and denominations. The translation of the rebellious situation of the time of the Caliphate, as well as many poets, writers and leaders of the beginning of Islam (Ibn Muqaffa, Babak, Afshin, Maziar, Barmakian, etc.) shows that this opposition was extremely strong.

Iranians who remained loyal to the Zoroastrian religion, because they were in the minority, defended their religion to the extent that they strengthened the beliefs of their fellow believers. They also attacked Judaism, Christianity, and Manichaeism. As for the official religion, Islam, it is clear that they were forced to take a cautious approach and confine themselves to vague allusions.
This book [called “Shekand Vimanik Vichar”, which can be translated as “Suspicion Report” or “Explanation of Doubt”.] It has been translated into Sanskrit by another Zoroastrian scholar called Nirosang and translated into Pazand. Its subject matter, like other Pahlavi books preserved by Zoroastrians, is the defense of the Zoroastrian religion, which also severely attacks other nations and sects.
