Introducing the book “Several Letters to a Young Poet” by Rainer Maria Rilke
This well-known poet was Rainer Maria Rilke. In this collection of letters and articles, which are a treasure trove of his unique thoughts and insights, Rilke complied with the young student’s request. These letters were written at an important stage in the process of Rilke’s artistic development and formation, and include many of the themes that were later applied to his best works.

Rilke himself later acknowledged that the letters were part of his artistic and creative genius; This makes the book A Few Letters to a Young Poet a necessary and very important work for scholars, poetry lovers and those interested in Rilke, German poetry and artistic creation in general.

Excerpts from the book

And if not everyone can, the lonely man can. Because he knows that every beauty in animals and plants is a stable and obvious face of love and enthusiasm. He is the one who sees animals and plants patiently mating and multiplying, and this is not according to the law of suffering and happiness, but all are subject to the law that passes through suffering and happiness and dominates every will and resistance.

I wish one could find the secret that dominates the whole world, down to the smallest detail, with more humility. I wish he would tolerate and accept it with more importance. Instead of trying to recover, they wallow in their sadness and thus, experience more failure. I wish man considered his fertility sacred. Fertility is the same whether it is physical or spiritual.

If you extend your love to whatever it is, if you humbly try to get acquainted with what seems insignificant, then everything will be easier for you and it will seem more melodious and friendly to you.

What is called destiny does not come to man from the outside, but comes from him.
